Packaging design is the intersection where material, form, structure, color, graphic imagery, typography, and regulatory information all come together as one to showcase a product to be marketed to consumers.
Basically it exists to showcase, protect, and, perhaps most importantly, allow a product to distinguish and show off it’s particular appeal in the marketplace.
If you were to look on the average store shelf there are many thousands of different products vying for our attention.
Retail shops, wholesalers, boutique stores, factory outlets, and the many portals of the Internet are all retail marketing sites where products come to life and attract consumers through packaging design.
Product competition is fostered because of the enormity of consumer choice and that, in turn, creates the need for creative product design and differentiation.
The goal of well crafted package design is to meet marketing objectives by distinctively communicating the personality or function of a consumer product and generating a sale. Successful packaging design will create desire in the consumer to pick up and buy your product.
Westcott designs are not limited to wine and toy packaging, Ginny and her company can do almost all types of packaging design.
Ginny has worked as a package designer for products as varied as Ahnapee Brewery (Beer label design work) , Hilltop Olive Oil label design, Hard Cider and Ale label designs. Occasionally, performing the design duties for a product as cool as this Eco Pool Drain Fountain Kit package design has come her way also.
Ginny also did the packaging design for Miller’s Orchards preserves and canned product labels and colorful medical supply package for Immuno Labs.
In addition to the design for the products above Westcott Design Studios have also done the design for many vitamin labels and design work for many other products not shown here. Ginny once even worked on a Pepsi Can design!
